Secure VPN tunnel

A VPN tunnel is a Virtual Private Network tunnel that enables a safe, encrypted connection over the public internet from HQ to the Archibus Application.

Encryption is IPsec (Internet Security Protocol) based and is unencryptable by 3rd parties. VPN tunneling creates a point-to-point connection that cannot be accessed by unauthorized users.

How does VPN work

Virtual Private Networks use tunnels to encapsulate data packets within normal IP packets for transfering data over the public internet, using encryption to ensure privacy and authentication, therefore ensuring the integrity of data.

In order to set up an internet based VPN between the Application and the Customers site, a VPN gateway (firewall, router, security applicance) is required from the Client’s side.

How does VPN help?

VPN connects the Client’s users securely over a public interernet to the application in the Cloud. The traffic is encrytped, meaning that traffic cannot be recorded nor can the application be accessed by 3rd parties. VPN extends the application to the inside network of the client.
