Enhanced Security from Archibus Hosting Services

The world seems to be an uncertain place once again. Security provision of all kinds is higher on the list of priorities for many organizations and their IT Departments.

At AscHS we concentrate heavily on standards for Cyber Security and Information Security.  However, the bar is being raised by clients and end-users with regard to performance, resilience and system availability. These are the building blocks of our solution that help us maintain our standards, in addition to meeting increasing demands.

In a previous blog post we described our management layer. Our focus is on performance, security and reliability to the extent that it has evolved in the provision of a specialist cloud management. This means at the hosting environment is built specifically for its purpose to aid in the deployment of enterprise software in the cloud.

This affords us the ability to differentiate our solutions from generic cloud or SaaS providers. Our products are not only tailored to deal with the complexities of real estate, facility, and workplace management software. They offer choice, scalability and a variety of ways for clients and end users to manage their risk and maintain their security in the cloud.  This is becoming important for clients operating on a global basis in the face of diplomatic, economic and social uncertainty.

Two features that can help to offer choice tend to get lost in the cyber-security interference. They form part of a significant number of our projects and are in demand more often as the perception of risk changes.

The first has the complicated title Cross-cloud Synchronised Back-up. Co-location is a standard technique in our back-up and disaster recovery regime. Our service levels are quite specific about how we handle this particularly sensitive part of cyber security. This form of backup is possible as AscHS can deploy anywhere in the world. So for example, a solution hosted with one Cloud partner in Singapore can be backed up to another in the USA, or Europe. This enhances the peace of mind that our disaster recovery program provides.

The second builds on this idea but is more to do with performance and resilience, particularly when large data sets and file loadings come into play. This is what we term Balanced High Availability.

Balanced High Availability is designed to cater for large numbers of users, applications and data. It provides even higher levels of scalability and durability than our standard packages. It also allows us to provide increase security. Our use of Load Balancing technology allows us to include other popular options for security including Web Application Firewall, SSL encryption and Multi-Factor Authentication. These can be enhanced by routing and offloading of network traffic. Load Balancing can also help defend against security risks such as DDoS.

Features like these present the last of the key building blocks covered in recent blog posts. As mentioned above the bar is being raised constantly. We are sure to add more to our product range, and product options in the future.
